You may have noticed some changes on TKI since Wednesday – we have a new calendar, a smarter search, and a bunch of new ways to personalise your homepage.
If you haven’t been by lately, come and visit now.
New ways to make TKI your own
If you have a TKI account you can now create your own personal homepage kete.

Kete can include any notes or links you want – they’re yours. There are also special types of kete you can create to display video from sites like YouTube, or the output of RSS feeds from news sites, blogs, twitter, wherever.
Create some personal kete around a topic, save them as a new preset homepage, and share it with anyone – they don’t even need their own TKI account to use your homepage.
To learn more about the new personalisation features, visit the TKI help section where you can find instructions, video and FAQs.
And if you have the time, we’d love to hear how you’ve been using them – fill in the feedback form, or drop us a line.
Refining search results and community search
The TKI search now gives you the ability to refine your search results by criteria like level, format or learning area. Broad categories of results can be excluded or singled out – for instance offline resources or digistore objects.
We’ve also made it easier to search an individual community directly. When you are visiting a community, like Assessment Online or Pasifika, searching from the TKI bar will return results only from that community. You can view your results without being taken you away from the page – they just drop down from the TKI bar, overtop of your page.
The whole of TKI is still only a click away – just select ‘Search all of TKI’. To find out more about the TKI search, with video and FAQs, visit the TKI help section.
New TKI events calendar
The new TKI events calendar can keep you up to date with educational events from around New Zealand. It will show events selected by the core TKI team, and drawn in from the calendars of our specialist communities.
All of these updates are designed to help New Zealand educators locate quality resources and information, and keep these at their fingertips – and we have a lot more planned.
We hope to see you soon, The TKI Channel team
