Ali Teo and John O’Reilly illustrations now available: Kiss! Kiss! Yuck! Yuck! written by Kyle Mewburn

These resources give students an insight into the creative process of book publishing, the form and layout, and how Ali and John have chosen to use of text as part of the illustration.

This is the first double page (pages 2 and 3), colour-saturated and digitally-produced illustration for Kiss! Kiss! Yuck! Yuck! In this initial scene the reader is introduced to the characters of Aunty Elsie and Andy. Aunty Elsie has come to visit.

In this first storyboard the reader is introduced to the entire story, page by page, in thumbnail sketches. The placing of the text and dimensions for the double-page spread are also explored.

This resource is a close-up view of a later storyboard produced using pencil on paper for Kiss! Kiss! Yuck! Yuck! In this storyboard the first three double page spreads are explored further. The placing of the text and development in the finalised line drawings are recorded.

This resource is a group of four layers digitally created using scanned original drawings and photographs on paper for Kiss! Kiss! Yuck! Yuck! Layer 1 is a pencil line drawing showing Aunty Elsie, arms open wide, and Andy getting ready to run. Layer 2 is a colour-saturated version of layer 1. Layer 3 describes the background scene, and layer 4 shows all layers and text digitally merged together to produce the final published illustration.

Rena Oil Spill

This collection of 13 photographs tells the story of the grounding of the container ship Rena and the subsequent oil spill which occurred near Tauranga, New Zealand in October 2011.

The ‘User Guides’ page on the wiki has been updated and now has the latest version of a PowerPoint that teachers can use to lead professional development on the use of Digistore within schools. Māori catalogue

A catalogue of Māori resources has been created to showcase content within Digistore that is either in te reo Māori or has content related to Māori tikanga. In the catalogue, there is a picture preview of each item from Digistore, an explanation of the item in te reo Māori, and also the related English entry for that item with an English explanation. To find a specific resource you are interested in from the Digistore catalogue search for the ID number using the standard Digistore search. Frequently asked questions

How do I browse content in Digistore?

You can use the 'browse by topic' section in the left navigation menu to find content related to each learning area. You can also choose the 'A to Z' option (in the orange section of the search window) in order to browse by terms. Finally, you can use the catalogues available on the 'Learning areas and catalogues' pages on the wiki in order to see Digistore content for English, Science and Learning Languages organised by year level.

Online snacks

Online snacks is a new professional development opportunity for schools or groups of teachers to develop confidence in locating and organising resources from the Digistore site.
